The Reasoning Behind Orca Attacks

Killer

Objective - Despite being the ocean's apex predators and highly intelligent creatures, orcas are captured and exploited for entertainment by companies like SeaWorld. The only known instances of orca attacks on humans have happened in captivity, and yet, orcas continue to be held in these conditions, resulting in fatalities on both sides.

Approach - This website informs viewers about every part of this issue: how orcas live in the wild compared to captivity, the way orcas are captured, physical and mental effects of captivity, violent incidents and fatalities that occur because of captivity, a list of every recorded orca that’s been held in captivity, and ways to get involved.

Execution - This project required extensive research about orcas, SeaWorld and similar companies, and the effects captivity has on an animal as intelligent as a killer whale. This research is organized on the website into infographics and written statements.
